Biomass Boilers
Biomass boilers burn organic matter of recent origin. They are better known as wood pellet, chip or log burners. Biomass boilers can be installed as new, or to replace your current oil or gas boiler. With the same principle as gas or oil-fired boilers they produce heat for your central heating system and hot water.
Biomass boilers can, like most other boilers, be incorporated into a heating system, via a thermal store, with other renewables such as solar hot water systems. We offer full system design and installation of such systems. Please see our installations page for photos and information of installed systems and their applications.
Thermal Stores
These are also known as buffer tanks and accumulator tanks. They store hot water produced by your boiler or solar system so that when heat is required it can be taken from the thermal store and then be replaced via your boiler or solar system. The size of the thermal store is determined by the following factors:
• The output requirement of the dwelling / output and efficiency of the heat source.
• Domestic hot water consumption.
• Floor area of dwelling.
• Operating conditions.
• Temperature of dwelling.
• Insulation level of dwelling. (u-value)
